Finance Officer

Under the supervision of the Executive Director and Director of Programmes, WIPSENAfrica's
Finance Officer will focus on maintaining all financial and accounting proceedings of
WIPSEN-Africa. Namely: preparing financial statements, maintaining cash controls,
preparing the payroll, and maintaining accounts payable in a timely and accurate manner
and in compliance with WIPSEN-Africa's Financial Procedures and Orientation Memo for
Programme Implementation.

Tasks:
• Assist with preparation of the budget
• Implement financial policies and procedures
• Establish and maintain cash controls; reconcile the general ledger
• Monitor grants, prepare income and reconcile bank statements
• Establish and maintain supplier accounts; and process supplier invoices
• Maintain the purchase order system
• Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized
accounting system
• Prepare donor financial and quarterly report on variances
• Assist with the annual audit
• Maintain the computerized accounting system and financial files and records
• Issue, code and authorize purchase orders
• Prepare salary vouchers/payrolls and filling of tax returns
• Monitor all expenditure
• Advice Management on financial issues

Requirements:
• Graduate-level university degree in accounting or finance management and bookkeeping;
• Extensive financial management and bookkeeping skills
• The ability to produce accurate customised reports to deadline
• Good PC skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and accounting packages
• The proven ability to deal effectively with external agencies
• Fluent English is essential and a working knowledge of French is highly desirable
